Finding the Required Onboarding Information

  • Log on to MyTax DC

  • Account ID

    • From the home page, on the Summary tab, locate your Sales & Use Tax account

    • Provide the 12-digit DC Sales and Use Tax Account ID (format: 123-123456789)

  • Filing Frequency

    • On the Sales & Use Tax Account tile, click View Returns

    • Review the cadence of the return periods listed to determine the filing frequency

  • Effective Registration Date (Required for First Return Filing only)

    • Your Effective registration can be found on the notice of business tax registration letter/documents mailed to you by the tax authorities. They should have arrived 1-2 weeks after your registration was submitted.

    • Alternative: If you do not have access to this letter, you can provide the "Start Date" you used for your DC Sales Tax registration application (the date you created a tax obligation).

    • Ideally, you should provide the date listed on the notice of business tax registration letter mentioned above.

Approving Taxually's Access Request

Note: After you provide your Account ID to Taxually, they will send an online access request that will require approval. Once Taxually notifies you that the request is ready for your approval, please follow the steps below.

PLEASE NOTE: This must be done by a user who has permission to manage other users in your Business Account.

  • Log on to MyTax DC

  • Click the Action Center tab

  • Locate the "You have a third-party access request pending" action item

  • Click the Respond to the Request link

  • On the Third-party access approval page, you will see the Username, Web Profile Name, and email of LumaTax. Additionally, you will see the Account Type for the request.

  • Click Yes to Approve Third-Party Access

  • Select the Third-Party Access Type from the drop-down menu. Grant permission to File Returns and Make Payments.

  • Click Next

  • Click Submit

  • Click OK

  • Please confirm that you approved the third-party access request in the US_DC Onboarding for Taxually. Change the answer to “Yes” and then submit the update to Taxually so they can confirm the access and enable tax filings.
